Training knives are specially designed blunt knives that do not have edges. These can either be made from aluminum, rubber, or hard plastic. Their primary purpose is to allow individuals to handle knives similar to a particular model without the risk of cutting or stabbing themselves.
Aluminum and plastic are not designed to be used with full force on a sparring partner, but are used to practice technique. Rubber may be used in sparring, but full force should be avoided if the rubber is particularly hard.
