Reagents

Care should be exercised in the use of the chemicals on this page. Their use without prior experience in handling is to be avoided without supervision. The acids mentioned in particular are injurious to health if not handled properly. Protective clothing, eye protection, respirators and gloves are recommended. Ventilation is of the utmost importance. Pour the acid into the water not the water into the acid.
Iron, Steel
  • 1 hydrocloric acid
    1 water.


  • 1 nitric acid
    20 alcohol
    Time = varying from seconds to minutes depending on alloy and desired result.


  • 3 water
    2 sulphuric acid
    1 hydrocloric acid


  • 1 Ferric cloride
    1 water.
    Time 10 min with moderate agitation


  • 3 acetic acid
    1 water
    1 nitric acid
    Time = 10 min with moderate agitation


  • 1 acetic acid
    Time = as long as it takes


  • 1 cat urine
    Time = as long as it takes


  • 1 lemon juice
    Wipe down with cut lemon at the begining and end of every day.
