Wayne Morgan is a quiet kind of a fellow, he prefers to speak softly and make a big knife and when he is done with it even though somewhere in the back of his mind he probably knows its his best work yet he is not shouting it from the rooftops.
Talking about his knives may not his strong point, but making them sure is. Its a good thing then that his knives do such a fine job of speaking for themselves.
Check out the pattern, the textures, the confidence, I mean, really what is there to say about this stuff, its just beautiful that's all, naturally !
However Wayne does say the following when prompted.
I live in South Africa and for as long as I can remember I have been interested in knives and used knives, About three years ago I decided to take the leap and start making knives full time.
Most of my life I have made my living from crafts of one sort or another, Crafting boomerangs has also been a passion of mine.
A boomerang is a bush tool and the transition from making boomerangs to knives was the next logical step.
This knife is the largest knife I have made so far, The steel is forged 1070,the knife has a Harmon, the handle is Tamboti and copper and the sheath is hand stitched and tooled.
I am trying to make aesthetically pleasing heavy duty functional knives.
Knife making also gives me the opportunity to work with a variety of materials, I love working with steel, wood, bone and leather.
When Wayne says he aims to make "aesthetically pleasing heavy duty functional knives", well in my view he succeeded with this one.The thing is, his other knives share this one's aesthetic so its hard to pick and choose between them. They are all good !
